Does it matter if I've never trained before?

Simply put, no. If you have never trained in any martial arts before, or if you have tried some other styles, everyone is welcome to come along and join us.

When is it too late to start training in karate?

Never. Many people start when they are kids, some in the 20's and 30s', others decide to pick it up much later. It is important to remember that it is never too late. Joining in and doing your best is all that ever really matters.

Do you teach kids?

We do not teach kids,  experience has shown that only those from age 15 upwards have the capacity to cope with our training.

How much does it cost?

Single lessons are £10 each. For regular attendees we have a tiered monthly payment scheme that reduces the cost per lesson.  You will require an annual ESA licence £35.

Can I join in on straight away?

Of course! You can choose to come and watch us train for the first time, or jump in and get training right away.

What do I need to bring?

For the first few session just come along in loose fitting comfortable clothing. After a few weeks we can order you a Karate-Gi (Japanese training gear) a wholesale prices.

Who do I need to bring with me?

We accept individuals or groups of men and women over the age of 16. There is no upper age limit; our oldest participant is over 70.

How often will I grade?

For Kyu grades (coloured belts) grading generally takes place every 4 months as long as you have trained regularly (at least twice a week). Time is longer between Dan grades (black belts). With regular training, the right attitude to training and plenty of hard work you can get to black belt in 4 to 6 years.

Can I come along on courses?

There are some courses available to all grades, but some are just open to higher grades or just black belts.
